Letter from the CCCC Memberweb Editor

Letter to CCCC Members

Greetings! I am very pleased to have been appointed as the new CCCC MemberWeb Editor for a three-year term. I come to you with a strong background in digital rhetorics, web environments, usability, and web accessibility.  Previously, I served as the Purdue OWL Coordinator and Purdue OWL Webmaster where I helped guide the revisions and direction of the OWL, interacted with our many users worldwide, and worked on issues of usability and accessibility. I plan on bringing these and other experiences to my work as the CCCC MemberWeb editor to ensure a usable and engaging experience for all of our members.

Over the next three years, you’ll be seeing a lot of changes, revisions, and upgrades to the CCCC website. One of the biggest changes planned is the development of the CCCC MemberWeb, a new community space that will be added to the current CCCC site in the upcoming months. I will be working with the CCCC team of editors, the NCTE Staff, and with you, the CCCC members, to create this interactive space. This space will allow us to further our shared CCCC goals of promoting and exchanging knowledge important to the profession, promoting professional development, and advocating for best practices in language and literacy worldwide. Specific features of this space will include spaces for members to collaborate on teaching and research, advanced features for CCC including tagging and sharing of bibliographies, and a center for professional development resources. We’ll also be adding discussion groups and events that center around the Studies in Writing and Rhetoric series and the FORUM Newsletter

We understand that CCCC members have a range of interest in and experience with emerging web technologies, and so we aim to develop a variety of features that aim to be useful to our diverse member base. As our MemberWeb initiative is still in its planning stages, your feedback and suggestions are going to help guide the shape and direction of these new community spaces. Because of the above reasons, we would like to know what you—our CCCC members—would most like to see in our new MemberWeb areas. We’ve developed a short survey that asks for your feedback on our current CCCC site and your suggestions for what you would like to see in our planned CCCC MemberWeb. The survey will take 5-10 minutes to complete and will greatly help our efforts as we move forward. Take our survey now.

I also welcome you to contact me directly with any questions, thoughts, or suggestions you may have about the current CCCC site or our plans. I look forward to working with you to bring the best web experience possible for all of our CCCC members.

All the Best,
Dana Lynn Driscoll, Ph.D.
